TNPSC Group 4 age is counted as on 01.07.2026. For most posts you must have completed 18, and after the 5-year relaxation you must not have completed 35 (Others), 37 (BC, BCM, MBC/DC) or 40 (SC, SC(A), ST). For most posts, BC, BCM, MBC/DC, SC, SC(A) and ST candidates whose general education is higher than SSLC have no upper age limit, but must be below 60.

Para 4.1.3 says the age-limit instructions in Para 5A of the "Instructions to Applicants" do not apply to the VAO and forest posts, so we do not assume the extra 5 years for them until the official text is out. The concession columns are shown as notified for the same reason.

How age is counted
- Age is reckoned on 01.07.2026. Minimum age: should have completed. Maximum age: should not have completed.
- "No maximum age limit" means you must not have completed 60 years on 01.07.2026 or at the time of selection / appointment.
- Your date of birth is checked against your SSLC or HSC mark sheet. If it is not on them, upload your birth certificate, transfer certificate or degree mark sheets instead (para 4.1.6.1).
- The ex-servicemen concession does not apply if you have already been recruited to a post in any class or service (para 4.1.5).

The 5-year age relaxation
Upper age limit raised by 5 years for all categories by G.O.(Ms) No. 68, Human Resources Management (S) Department, 30.10.2026. TNPSC announced it in Press Release 127/2026, which also extended the last date to apply. How to apply online.
TNPSC issued a separate age amendment on 04.11.2026. Addendum No. 11B/2026 refers to it, but as of 2026-11-08 we have not found its text on tnpsc.gov.in. Until we have it, the calculator gives a result only where the answer does not depend on it.

Is there no upper age limit for BC, MBC and SC candidates in TNPSC Group 4?
Only in some cases. For most posts the upper limit after the relaxation is 37 for BC, BCM and MBC/DC and 40 for SC, SC(A) and ST. There is no upper limit if your general education is higher than SSLC (except for the VAO and forest posts), and none at all for 11 post codes such as Junior Assistant (post code 3521) and Typist (post code 3817). "No maximum age limit" still means you must be below 60 on 01.07.2026 and at the time of selection / appointment.
What is the minimum age for TNPSC Group 4?
18 years for most posts, 21 for Village Administrative Officer and the forest posts, and 25 for Executive Officer (Grade IV). You must have completed the minimum age on 01.07.2026.
How is age calculated for TNPSC Group 4?
In completed years on 01.07.2026: you must have completed the minimum age and must not have completed the upper limit on that date. With a limit of 35, a candidate born on 2 July 1991 is 34 and within it, but one born on 1 July 1991 has completed 35 and is over it. Your date of birth is checked against your SSLC or HSC mark sheet.
